Home to Rich History and Celebrated Chefs
Washington Square is one of the five original planned squares laid out on the city grid by William Penn. The Square itself offers 6.4 acres of open-space park in Center City Philadelphia's southeast quadrant. The Washington Square neighborhood offers convenient access to Philadelphia attractions like the new Pennsylvania Convention Center, as well as Philadelphia’s most notable universities and hospitals including Jefferson University Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania. In recent years, Philadelphia has emerged as a culinary epicenter, and Washington Square is home to restaurants from the most celebrated chefs in the city, including the forthcoming BRYN + DANE. Local culture is abundant in and around Washington Square, which borders Olde City, the historic district, and is situated at the doorstep of excellent museums, shopping, entertainment, and public transportation.
